Jakarta, Britishcouse.com – The Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) determined 1 Shawwal 1442 Hijriyah or Eid Al-Fitr to fall on Thursday, May 13, 2021 based on the results of the essential computation of the Tarjih Council and Tajdid Muhammadiyah.
“PP Muhammadiyah is based on the reckoning method guided by the Tarjih and Tajdid Council that Eid Al-Fitr 1 Syawal 1442 Hijriah falls on Thursday, May 13, 2021,” said PP Muhammadiyah Secretary Agung Danarto in a press conference monitored from Jakarta, Monday (10/5 / 2021).
The basis for the determination of 1 Shawwal is because it is based on the results of monitoring of the new moon, ijtima or the conjunction between the sun and the moon before Shawwal 1442 AH which occurred on Wednesday, 12 May 2021 at 02.03.02 WIB.
Hilal has materialized when the sun sets in Yogyakarta. When the sun sets, the moon is above the horizon. The appearance of the new moon marks 1 Shawwal 1442 AH on Thursday, 13 May 2021.
“At sunset, we get data on the height of the moon 5 degrees 31 minutes. This means that when the sun sets the moon is still above the horizon, it has not set with an altitude of 5 degrees 31 minutes,” said Muhammadiyah astronomy expert Oman Fathurrahman.
Oman explained that in the essential reckoning of the form of the hilal, the new lunar month begins when the following three criteria are met cumulatively.
First, there has been an ijtima (conjunction), that ijtima occurs before the sun sets, because one moon cycle is astronomically from conjunction to conjunction, or ijtima to ijtima.
Second, when the day of the ijtima occurs it must occur before the sun sets, because the change of the moon must be in accordance with the changing of the day.
Finally, when the sun sets, the moon is still above the horizon or above the horizon, to ensure that the sun is to the west of the moon and the moon to the east of the sun.
“Those are the conditions that were fulfilled at the beginning of the month,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Haedar Nashir invited Muslims to take advantage of the remaining time in this Ramadan to increase their faith and piety towards Allah SWT.
In addition, the results of fasting must have an impact on social life. A person must be a patient, compassionate, sharing person in addition to strengthening faith in the Creator.
“For Muslims, we hope that fasting and Eid will be used as a momentum to present religious and religious practices that are all virtuous, all good, and avoid all negative things as an implementation of piety,” said Haedar.
Meanwhile, the government, through the Ministry of Religion, will hold an Isbat Session for the initial determination of Shawwal 1442 Hijriyah or Eid celebration which falls every 1st of Shawwal of the Hijriyah calendar on Tuesday (11/5).
“The early Shawwal Isbat will be held on 11 May 2021 or 29 Ramadan 1442 H,” said the Director General of Islamic Community Guidance, Kamaruddin Amin.
