Procedure Text – Pernahkah sobat memasak telor dadar sendiri, apa langkah awalnya, iris cabe dan bawang kecil-kecil, masukan irisan bawang dan cabe ke dalam mangkuk, taburkan sedikit garam ke mangkuk, pecahkan telor dan masukkan telor ke dalam mangkuk, aduk hingga rata, tuangkan telor ke dalam wajan yang sudah mendidih, goreng hingga matang, telor dadar siap untuk disantap. Langkah-langkah atau instruksi dalam membuat atau mengoprasikan sesuatu yang sering kita lakukan sebenarnya merupakan salah satu contoh penerapan dari Procedure Text.

Sekarang apa sobat sudah ada gambaran mengenai Procedure Text? Jika masih belom terlalu paham, tenang aja sobat.. pada kesempatan kali ini British Course akan mencoba menjelaskan apa itu procedure text, apa itu fungsinya, dan bagaimana cara membuatnya. Tentunya penjelasan mengenai procedure text saja tidak lah cukup, maka dari itu kami sempurnakan dengan adanya contoh untuk di pahami. Mari langsung saja baca penjelasan berikut.

Definition of Procedure Text

Ada tiga definisi “umum” mengenai procedure text : (1) Texts that explain how something works or how to use instruction / operation manuals e.g. how to use the video, the computer, the tape recorder, the photocopier, the fax. (2) Texts that instruct how to do a particular activity e.g. recipes, rules for games, science experiments, road safety rules. (3) Texts that deal with human behaviour e.g. how to live happily, how to succeed.

Dari keterangan di atas, dapat kita garis bawahi bahwa procedure text adalah (1) Teks yang menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau teks yang menjelaskan cara menggunakan pedoman instruksi / penggunaan. Contoh : cara menggunakan video, komputer, mesin fotokopi, fax dll. (2) Teks yang menunjukan cara melakukan aktifitas tertentu. Contoh : resep, aturan bermain game, eksperimen ilmiah, aturan keamanan berkendara. (3) Teks yang berhubungan dengan tingkah laku manusia. Contoh : cara hidup bahagia, cara sukses. dll..

The purpose procedural text is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The information is presented in a logical sequence of events which is broken up into small sequenced steps. These texts are usually written in the present tense. The most common example of a procedural text is a recipe.

Tujuan procedure text adalah memberitahu pembaca cara melakukan / membuat sesuatu. Informasi disajikan dengan urutan peristiwa yang logis. Peristiwa tersebut biasanya dibagi menjadi beberapa langkah-langkah terpisah. Teks ini biasanya ditulis menggunakan present tense. Contoh paling umum procedure text adalah resep masakan.

Generic Structure of Procedure Text

Seperti halnya pengertian procedure text di atas, generic structure (susunan umum) procedure text juga ada tiga :

(1) Goal (Maksud atau tujuan)
(2) Material Needed (Materi / alat / bahan yang dibutuhkan)
(3) Methods or Steps (Metode / langkah-langkah)

Catatan : Pada procedure text yang berupa How-to (“Pokoknya berjudul how to”), kadang material needed (materi yang dibutuhkan) tidak disertakan. Aturan tidak wajib sih dan bisa diubah2 kok 🙂

Purpose of Procedure Text

– To explain / tell (the reader) how to make / operate / do something through a sequence of actions or steps.
– To explain steps / instruction to make / operate / do something

Language Features of Procedure Text

– Use adverbial of sequence / using temporal conjunction (e.g: first, second, third, the last)
– Use command / imperative sentence (e.g : put the noodles on the . . ., cut the onion. . ., wash the tomatoes. . . )
– Using adverbials (adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.
– Using Simple Present Tense.

Jenis-jenis Procedure Text

Procedure text dalam bahasa inggris mempunyai beberapa jenis. Berikut ini ada 3 jenis procedure text yang harus Anda ketahui.

⦁ Procedure text yang menjelaskan bagaimana sesuatu bekerja atau bagaimana menggunakan instruksi / operasi manual , misalnya , how to use computer, how to record video. how to use plaroid camera.

⦁ Procedure text yang menginstruksikan bagaimana melakukan aktivitas tertentu, misalnya, how to make a noodle, how to dance, how to play basketball.

⦁ Procedure text yang berhubungan dengan perilaku manusia, misalnya, how to succeed, how to live happily, how to be a good person.

CONTOH PROCEDURE TEXT – NASI GORENG “FRIED RICE”

Nasi goreng, “fried rice” is a familiar food from Indonesia; if you want to know how to prepare nasi goreng this is the procedure how to make nasi goreng. Just follow this explanation :

Ingredients :
350 gr. Long Grain Rice
2 Tbs. Vegetable Oil
3 Eggs
1 Onion
2 Green Chillis, Sambal Ulek or Sambal Badjak.
1 Garlic Clove
1 Leek
1 teaspoon Ground Coriander
1 teaspoon Ground Cumin
250 gr. Chicken meat
250 gr. Shelled Prawns
3 Tbs. Kecap Manis

Steps :
This dish is best made from cold leftover rice, but you can cook a fresh batch and leave it to cool for at least 4 hours. Beat the eggs and make into a omelette, slice into strips and set aside. Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan. Add the chopped onion, leek, garlic and chillis. Fry until the onion is soft. Add the Coriander and Cumin. Slice Chicken into strips and add with the prawns to the onion mixture and cook, stirring occasionally until they are well mixed. Add the rice, soya sauce and omelet strips and cook for a further 5 minutes. Decorate with some of the leftover leek and serve hot. Enjoy.

CONTOH PROCEDURE TEXT – HOW TO RIDE A BICYCLE

Sitting on the bike, make sure you know where the brakes are and how to operate them.

You have to learn to balance the bike. Find a person who can hold your bike behind you and try to steady it as you pedal. Also find a place to ride that is grassy or such.

After practicing for a couple minutes, the person can release his or her hands while you try to keep your balance.

When you are ready, ride alone. But first lower the seat until you can sit on it and put both feet flat on the ground.

When you are confident you can put your feet on the pedals and coast for a few feet, try not putting your feet down to train your sense of balance. Do this for 30-45 minutes or so, until you have a good feel and some confidence about steering the bike.

As you gain experience, raise the seat up so that only your toes can touch the ground while you are seated. This is the more appropriate height for your seat.

Finally, you have to practice.
Once you can balance, pedal, start, and stop, you’re a bicycle rider. Congratulations!

How to Train Your Dog to Sit

Does your dog know how to sit on cue? Teaching the “sit” command to your dog is usually quite simple, as dogs tend to sit naturally. Sit is an important basic command that every dog should know.

Plan to set aside 5-10 minutes a few times a week to work on training sit. Before you begin, make sure you have delicious training treats to offer your dog. These treats should be soft, small, and highly appealing to your dog.

1. Next, add the cue word: Say your dog’s name followed by the word “sit,” spoken clearly while holding the treat in the position as before.
   
2. Immediately give your dog the treat followed by petting and praising.
3. Move the treat back towards your dog’s ears, keeping it close to the head. Your dog’s nose might turn up to follow the treat at first, but most dogs will sit when the treat gets to a certain point.
4. Get your dog’s attention and show her that you have a treat in your hand.
5. Hold the treat just above your dog’s nose (not too high or she might jump).
6. As soon as your dog’s rear lands on the ground, say “yes!” or “good dog” in an upbeat tone.
7. Repeat 1-5 times until your dog sits at the sight of the treat above of her nose.
8. Repeat several times, using the word “sit” each time and gradually phasing out the hand motion (keep using the treat, just phase out the motion).

Cara Melatih Anjingmu untuk Duduk

Apakah anjingmu mengerti untuk duduk saat diperintahkan? Mengajari perintah “duduk” pada anjing biasanya cukup sederhana karena anjing terbiasa untuk duduk dengan sendirinya. Perintah ini adalah perintah dasar penting yang harus diketahui oleh setiap anjing.

Sisihkan 5-10 menit beberapa kali dalam seminggu untuk berlatih duduk. Sebelum mulai, pastikan kamu mempunyai kudapan lezat untuk anjingmu. Kudapan ini harus bertekstur lembut, kecil, dan membangkitkan seleranya.

1. Dapatkan perhatian dari anjingmu dan tunjukkan kepadanya kamu memiliki kudapan di tanganmu.
2. Peganglah kudapan tersebut di atas hidung anjingmu (jangan terlalu tinggi karena anjingmu mungkin akan melompat).
3. Pindahkan kudapan tersebut mendekati telinganya, pastikan tetap dekat dengan kepalanya. Awalnya, anjingmu mungkin akan menaikkan hidungnya sambil mengikuti kudapan tersebut, tapi kebanyakan anjing akan duduk saat kudapan itu ada pada posisi tertentu.
4. Pada saat anjingmu duduk, segera katakan “ya!” atau “anak pintar” dengan nada yang menyenangkan.
5. Setelah itu, berikanlah kudapannya, lanjutkan dengan mengelus dan memuji anjingmu.
6. Ulangi 1-5 kali sampai anjingmu bisa duduk pada saat kudapan dipegang di dekat hidungnya.
7. Lalu, tambahkan kata perintah: Sebutkan nama anjingmu diikuti dengan kata “duduk” yang diucapkan dengan jelas sambil memegang kudapan di posisi yang sama.
8. Ulangi beberapa kali, terus gunakan kata “duduk” dan perlahan-lahan mulai tinggalkan gerakan tanganmu (tetap menggunakan kudapan, hanya meninggalkan gerakan tangan saja).
