This time I will share an example of narrative text that the story is very interesting and full of moral value. I’m sure my friend has understood about this text because this text has been delivered to the students in Junior High School and repeated again in Senior High School.

Ok, In this post I will give you a little explanation about Narrative Text.

I am sure you must be often to tell the story that you just hear, watch or even your own imaginative story to someone, good friends, relatives, parents, etc. Well, actually what we do when telling the story we experienced is an applicative example of the Narrative Text.

Ok, I will tell the definition of Narrative text. It is “An imaginative story to entertain the reader” For example, Cinderella, Snow White, Monkey and Crocodiles, Malin Kundang, The Legend of Tangkuban Prahu Montain, etc.

Then, Kinds of Narrative Text are Fable, Fairly Tales, Folktales, Legend, Mith. That’s a brief description of Narrative text from me.

But, In this time I will not give you a complete explanation about Narrative Text, Here I just want to share an example of Narrative text, because if we read many example of it, we will have a better understanding about it. We will also have some collection of story that we can tell to our students, friends, family, or our children.

Contoh Narrative Text : Legenda Pamboang

The Legend of Pamboang

A long time ago, three men came to Majene, West Sulawesi. They wanted to open a new place. Those three men were brothers. They were I Lauase, I Lauwella, and I Labuqang.

They arrived in the beach. It was empty. No humans lived there. So the three brothers divided jobs among them.

I Lauase worked in the land. He wanted to open new fields for plantation. I Lauwella and I Labuqang worked on the beach. I Lauwella cleaned the beach from the seaweeds and I Labuqang covered the hole made by the crabs.

They worked hard everyday. And finally they succeeded. I Lauase had fields with so many trees, fruits and vegetables. I Lauwella and I Labuqang already cleaned the beach from the seaweeds and the covered the holes.

One by one people came to their place. And slowly it became a new village. The three brothers were the leaders of the village. They thought they had to find a name for their village.

“I have an idea. Let’s name it Pallayarang Tallu,” said I Lauase.
“What does it mean,” asked I Lauwella.
“Well, Pallayarang means ship pole and Tallu means three,” explained I Lauase.

They all agreed. Since then they named the village as Pallayarang Tallu. More and more people came to Pallayarang Tallu. The village was growing into a small town.

The name Pallayarang Tallu was so famous. One man was interested to know more about the new town. His name was Puatta Di Karena. He was from Passokkorang kingdom. He went to Pallayarang Tallu with many people.

They were refugees. Their kingdom was attacked by their enemy. They came to Pallayarang Tallu to ask for help. The leader, Puatta Di Karena came to I Lauase’s house.

“Our kingdom is attacked. Can you help us?” asked Puatta Di Karena.
“I’m not the only leader here. I have to discuss with my brothers,” answered I Lauase.

Later, the three brothers held a meeting. After that they met Puatta Di Karena to tell him about their decision.

“We cannot help you. We don’t have enough soldiers yet. You can see that Pallayarang Tallu is a new town. There are not so many people live here,” explained I Lauase.

“But we really need your help. Pallayarang Tallu is the nearest town from our kingdom. Besides that, the three of you are very strong men. You can build this town. It means you have great power. I’m sure we can win if you help us,” said Puatta Di Karena.

He continued, “If you help us, I will give you tambo.” Tambo means fee or money.

The three brothers then discussed. They needed more money. And the tambo could be used to build Pallayarang Tallu.

“When will you give us the tambo?” asked I Lauase.
“Next week,” answered Puatta Di Karena.

Then the people of Pallayarang Tallu helped them. They won! However Puatta Di Karena did not show up yet. He disappeared. Nobody knew where he was. The people of Pallayarang Tallu always talked abou the tambo.

Slowly the word tambo changed into tamboang, then changed into pamboang. Since then the people changed the name Pallayarang Tallu into Pamboang. Pamboang is an area in Majene, West Sulawesi.***

Terjemahan Contoh Narrative Text

Legenda Pamboang

Dulu, tiga orang datang ke Majene, Sulawesi Barat. Mereka ingin membuka tempat baru. Ketiga pria itu bersaudara. Mereka adalah I Lauase, I Lauwella, dan I Labuqang.

Mereka sampai di pantai. Itu kosong. Tidak ada manusia yang tinggal di sana. Jadi ketiga bersaudara tersebut membagi pekerjaan di antara mereka.

I Lauase bekerja di daratan. Dia ingin membuka ladang baru untuk perkebunan. I Lauwella dan I Labuqang bekerja di pantai. I Lauwella membersihkan pantai dari rumput laut dan I Labuqang menutupi lubang yang dibuat oleh kepiting.

Mereka bekerja keras setiap hari. Dan akhirnya mereka berhasil. I Lauase memiliki ladang dengan begitu banyak pohon, buah dan sayuran. I Lauwella dan I Labuqang sudah membersihkan pantai dari rumput laut dan menutupi lubangnya.

Satu per satu orang datang ke tempat mereka. Dan perlahan itu menjadi desa baru. Ketiga bersaudara tersebut adalah pemimpin desa. Mereka mengira mereka harus mencarikan nama untuk desa mereka.

“Saya punya ide. Begini saja Pallayarang Tallu, “kata saya Lauase.
“Apa artinya,” tanya saya Lauwella.
“Nah, Pallayarang berarti tiang kapal dan Tallu berarti tiga,” jelas I Lauase.

Mereka semua setuju. Sejak itu mereka menamai desa tersebut sebagai Pallayarang Tallu. Semakin banyak orang datang ke Pallayarang Tallu. Desa itu tumbuh menjadi kota kecil.

Nama Pallayarang Tallu begitu terkenal. Seorang pria tertarik untuk mengetahui lebih banyak tentang kota baru tersebut. Namanya Puatta Di Karena. Dia berasal dari kerajaan Passokkorang. Dia pergi ke Pallayarang Tallu bersama banyak orang.

Mereka adalah pengungsi. Kerajaan mereka diserang oleh musuh mereka. Mereka datang ke Pallayarang Tallu untuk meminta bantuan. Pemimpinnya, Puatta Di Karena datang ke rumah I Lauase.
“Kerajaan kami diserang. Bisakah anda membantu kami? “Tanya Puatta Di Karena.

“Aku bukan satu-satunya pemimpin di sini. Saya harus berdiskusi dengan saudara laki-laki saya, “jawab I Lauase.

Kemudian, ketiga bersaudara tersebut mengadakan sebuah pertemuan. Setelah itu mereka bertemu Puatta Di Karena untuk menceritakan tentang keputusan mereka.

“Kami tidak bisa menolongmu. Kami belum memiliki cukup tentara. Anda bisa melihat bahwa Pallayarang Tallu adalah kota baru. Tidak banyak orang yang tinggal di sini, “jelas saya Lauase.

“Tapi kami sangat membutuhkan bantuanmu. Pallayarang Tallu adalah kota terdekat dari kerajaan kami. Selain itu, kalian bertiga adalah pria yang sangat kuat. Anda bisa membangun kota ini. Itu berarti Anda memiliki kekuatan besar. Saya yakin kita bisa menang jika Anda membantu kami, “kata Puatta Di Karena.

Dia melanjutkan, “Jika Anda membantu kami, saya akan memberi Anda tambo.” Tambo berarti biaya atau uang.

Ketiga bersaudara itu kemudian berdiskusi. Mereka membutuhkan lebih banyak uang. Dan tambo itu bisa digunakan untuk membangun Pallayarang Tallu.

“Kapan Anda akan memberi kami tambo itu?” Tanya saya Lauase.
“Minggu depan,” jawab Puatta Di Karena.

Kemudian orang-orang Pallayarang Tallu membantu mereka. Mereka menang! Namun Puatta Di Karena belum muncul. Dia menghilang. Tidak ada yang tahu di mana dia berada. Orang-orang Pallayarang Tallu selalu berbicara tentang tambo.

Perlahan kata tambo berubah menjadi tamboang, lalu berubah menjadi pamboang. Sejak saat itu orang-orang mengganti nama Pallayarang Tallu menjadi Pamboang. Pamboang adalah daerah di Majene, Sulawesi Barat. ***
