Bogor, Britishcourse.com – Commemorating World Environment Day, the Ciliwung Caring Community (KPC) together with the DPRD, and residents of Sindangrasa Village, East Bogor District, Bogor City carried out the “Ciliwung Garbage Mulung” activity, Saturday (5/6/2021). From the activity that was held for approximately 5 hours, the team spread along the Ciliwung river managed to collect 57 bags of various types of garbage.
This activity was carried out along the Ciliwung river which flows in 12 RWs in Sindangrasa Village. KPC member who is also the coordinator of the Ciliwung Task Force, Suparno Jumar stated that the activity of cleaning the Ciliwung river from garbage is one of the efforts to restore the ecosystem.
“So today the theme is ecosystem restoration or ecosystem restoration. This is one way for us to restore the ecosystem, especially in the Ciliwung river, which still needs great attention from all stakeholders,” said Suparno, Saturday (5/6/2021).
According to Suparno, this activity was carried out at several points on the Ciliwung river. One of them is near the Katulampa Dam. Most of the garbage stuck in river stones is plastic waste and cloth waste. Residents have to struggle to pull the garbage from the rocks and put it in sacks.
Furthermore, Suparno said that this river cleaning activity is a routine activity carried out by KPC every Saturday morning. Coincidentally, today coincides with World Environment Day.
“So this is a routine activity that KPC does every Saturday morning. Incidentally, today is Saturday to coincide with World Environment Day, which we know is celebrated every June 5,” said Suparno.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman I of the Bogor City DPRD, Jenal Mutaqin, who participated in the activity, hoped that the Bogor City Government (Pemkot) would pay more attention to the cleanliness of the Ciliwung river. Starting from providing garbage transport vehicles to villages and building reduce-reuse-recycle waste processing sites in villages that are crossed by the Ciliwung river.
“It takes strategic steps from the mayor not only to move one day or several days a year but to raise people’s enthusiasm that throwing garbage into Ciliwung is wrong, throwing garbage out of place is wrong,” said Jenal.
As an institution that has a budget function, Jenal also admitted that he would fully support the steps of the Bogor City Government to alleviate the waste problem in the Ciliwung river and other rivers.
“We, the people’s representatives, always support. When the government has ideas and ideas that are strategic enough for the good and the existing problems, we, the council, will certainly push for 100%,” said Jenal.
